Skateboarding Step by Step – Skateboard Tips   by Tone

Skateboarding.

Step by step I will Walk you through the Basics of Skateboarding. It’s definitely a DIY(do it yourself) sport. What I’m saying is, aside from reading this guide, the best way to improve is DO-IT-YOURSELF! (Side note: I’ve added a couple links throughout the guide with trick tips and other Skateboarding resources. Please use these links, they are there for your convenience!)

Skateboarding Step by step

Step One – The Roots of your tree. (Physics familiarization)

Get used to your board. Get used to turning left and right, and Leaning left and right. This will get you used to how your board will respond when you move. This is key if you want to be able to do more complicated tricks easier.

Now Get used to the pop( Jumpability, as it were. ) of your Nose and Tail. See how much it raises when you pop it. This is key for making your tricks higher, especially your ollie.

Next, Get used to the speed, and rotation your board will give you. See how much push is needed to get the desired amount of speed. Test how your board rotates and making a small kickflip motion, and see how much power is required before it flips over. This will make all your flip tricks come with a new sense of ease.

Step Two: The Trunk of your tree (Basic Tricks)

I‘m sure by now I don’t need to tell you what the first trick you learn is. Everybody knows the answer is The Ollie, Yet many are still struggling. I just get so confused to see kids trying to kickflip, when their ollies barely come off the ground. So, what you need to do if you can’t ollie is learn to ollie. Force one out, it’s really not that hard. If you think you’ve got it down keep practicing. Even then, always practice. I still practice my Ollie, and it improves constantly. This is, after all the Basis of all tricks.

Other required basic tricks include: 180 spin, Shove-it, Kickflip, Heelflip, 50-50 Grind, Boardslide. After you’ve mastered these, the more complicated tricks come natural.

Step Three: The Blooming of your tree(Everything Else)

This, is a sticking point for most skaters. Many people have trouble with the more advanced tricks even if they’ve got the basics on lock. I’ll admit, I was a victim of this too. As it turns out, advanced tricks are easier than I thought! Read On..
